My Winter Skincare Routine

My Winter Skincare Routine

I have recently had a bit of a skincare routine switch up. When it gets into winter I tend to be more strict with my routine. Partly due to the fact I am more prone to psoriasis during the drier colder months and partly due to the fact university gives me stress spots. A lot of my skincare routine is items from one of my favourite shops: The Body Shop, so just in case anyone makes any assumptions, this is not a sponsored post.

The first thing I do is wet my muslin cloth and give my face a nice, gentle wash with only water. I prefer to use cold water to begin as it wakes up my skin. After I have washed my face I dampen my trust Magnitone, side note: isn't my new Precious Collections Magnitone Barefaced in gold the most beautiful piece of skincare equipment you have ever seen?

Along with my gorgeous Magnitone, I use Korres Gel Cleanser. Cleansing my skin takes only a minute as the Magnitone helps me split my face into three sections; my right cheek, my left cheek and my t-zone and beeps to tell me to move on to each section until all three are thoroughly cleansed. The Magnitone gives my face a deep cleanse and along with the amazing Korres Gel Cleanser exfoliates my skin to keep dry skin at bay.

Once I am done there I leave the cleanser to soak into my skin as I use my hand and some warm water to clean my Magnitone then I use some cool water to take off the excess cleanser. I am a big lover of double cleansing, I just think double cleansing gives a deeper clean especially if you have had a late night or wore a lot of makeup the day before. To double cleanse I use The Body Shop Camomile oil cleanser, I pump two pumps into my hand then run some warm water over my other hand before rubbing them together and then in circular motions cleansing my face again.

Once that is done I pat my face dry with a clean face towel and move along to toner. I only recently started to use toner on a daily basis, I know, I'm a beauty blogger, but has definitely changed my skin. For a toner at the moment, I am using The Body Shop's Vitamin E toner. To apply I squeeze a drop or two onto a cotton pad and in circular motions apply to my face.

I leave this to soak in before I apply The Body Shop Vitamin E daily moisturiser. I have been using this for about a month and just got another in a goody bag at a TBS event so I am super excited to continue using this into the new year.

I have had a bit of bother with blackheads in recent months, so at The Body Shop event I got to chat with their lovely skincare professional and I am currently using their Tea Tree Pore minimizer, which I apply after my moisturiser. this minimizes the size of your pores keeping them clean and safe from clogging which causes blackheads and spots.

My Winter Skincare Routine

At night my routine is pretty similar to that of my day time routine. I come home and I use my trusty Garnier Micellar Water to remove my makeup, this doubles as a cleanser, but I use it is a gentle makeup remover and double cleanse with The Body Shop Camomile Oil cleanser which I use in the exact same way as I did above, however I like to leave it for an extra few minutes at night just to make sure it's getting rid of all impurities.

Once I have wiped off the cleanser I again turn to my handy The Body Shop vitamin E toner. Like I said, I have only started to use a toner on a daily basis recently and this is the second toner I have probably ever used. I really like this one, it's not as harsh as the other one I tried was, it's super gentle and cleansing.

I then pick up my The Body Shop Drops of Youth serum and Bouncing Sleeping Mask. I use the spatula from the mask to get out the tiniest amount as this mask really goes a long way. I then drop one or two drops of the serum into the mask and apply it to my face before bed. I don't want to give away too much about this mask as I plan on reviewing it in full on here soon, but I absolutely love how my skin feels every morning.

My Winter Skincare Routine

I like to multi-mask at least three times a week, sometimes more if it's one of those busy weeks when my skin has been through a lot. I am loving L'Oreal Glow Clay Mask and The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Mask. I did a full review and walkthrough of how I use these two masks to multimask and you can read it here

When the dry, cold winter weather comes in it is important not to forget to treat your lips as you do your skin. I keep mine hydrated by applying lip balm under my lipstick before I go out and applying a thick coat before bed. I also carry a lip balm in every bag I own so I am never short of one. I love using Lush lip scrub in Bubblegum to scrub my lips at least once a week to rid dry, chapped lips and keep my lips smooth all week long.

What do you use in your skincare routine? Recommend me some Origins products, please!!
