A NYX Autumnal Makeover

NYX Halloween Makeover
So it's Halloween and Autumn is upon us and you know what that means; oranges, reds, and burgundies are in, big time. If you are anything like me you may be a little scared of colour, especially when it comes to eyeshadow, this post is for you. I got a masterclass in adding autumnal shades to my look with NYX and their amazing new releases.

I was invited along to NYX with my best friend (she has a fabulous blog right here, check it out) upon the arrival of their fabulous new releases (scroll down for all the links). Originally we were going to try out some Halloween looks, but after looking at the new Full Throttle Color Riot palette I just had to try it out, but as beautiful as the pumpkin orange and the deep burgundy shades were, I had no idea how I would add such beautiful shades to my face without looking like someone had punched me in the eye.

The wonderful makeup artist Jack offered to show me how to use such vivid shades in a wearable eye look and of course I was 100% game to have my makeup done with this fabulous palette. It was a Saturday afternoon so you can imagine how busy it was, but Jack was very professional, she was helping customers while making sure Ashley and I were both happy and comfortable and she was able to juggle both our makeovers and helping customers incredibly well.

A NYX Autumnal Makeover
Jack started doing my makeup first, she began by prepping my lids explaining that she loves the Proof it waterproof eye base she prepped my eyes with, but that she prefers a clear base. Once my eyelids were prepped, Jack then covered my lid in one of the new lid lingeries, yes, you guess it, NYX's famous lip lingeries are now branching out into eyeshadow sticks,

The lid lingeries are incredible, I want them all, they are in a similar tube to the lip lingerie with a doe foot applicator and they have the creamiest formulation and on top of that are some of the most pigmented eyeshadows I have ever come across.

Next up, Jack took the beautiful Full Throttle Color Riot quad and took the pumpkin orange shade applying it to my crease. This shade is such a gorgeous, bright orange shade (most visible in the third photo) and I think she possibly blended it in with the other orange shade from the palette, a burnt orange browny shade. Again, this palette is incredibly pigmented and from what I could tell she had absolutely no problem blending them.

She then took the vivid burgundy shade from the palette and applied it to my outer corners, this shade is so incredibly vivid and bright, again blending perfectly and with ease. She also applied some to my undereye and blended it out. I do feel like NYX shadows have a tad more fall out than say Urban Decay but in a land of pros, that one con doesn't seem to matter at all, especially at the low prices.

Lastly, she decided to a little eyeliner using what I think was NYX Slim Eye pencil, I am more of a gel liner gal, I haven't used a kohl liner since I was around 14, but this liner stuck. It applied smoothly and without fault and didn't smudge despite wearing it for around 8 hours. She then applied some to my waterline to finish the look off.

The finished look was absolutely gorgeous and pulled the green in my eyes out. I have dark brown eyes, but the red and orange tones gave them a lighter, greener look. It is such a vivid look so I probably wouldn't be wearing it to uni, but for the autumnal and winter months, it will be perfect for a dinner or an event, Christmas day too.

She decided I need a lip to go with the eye look. NYX have expanded their Liquid Suede line adding some bright blue, pinks, grey tones and some deeper vampy tones. To go with my burgundy eye look Jack picked out a  new Liquid Suede Brooklyn Thorn, a shade she told me was one of her favourites of the new shades. It is a dark blue toned brown, very similar to Stone by MAC.

Of course, I had to pick up the Color Riot Full Throttle palette after this wonderful makeover. It has the most incredible packaging, the little quad is in a square black packaging with a little window where you can see the shades. My favourite part though is the spikes that cover the black packaging, very Kat Von D-esque.

The makeover was so fun. Jack explained to us that NYX don't usually do makeovers and that made the event feel even more special. I am a massive fan of NYX so getting to try out their new products was wonderful, plus Jack did a fantastic job at the makeover, I ended up wearing it a Halloween party later that evening and got quite a few compliments.

What is your favourite NYX product? Will you try out the new NYX products? What shades will you be wearing this autumn/winter?
