24hr Foundation Reviewed

I am way behind with this one, but I decided it was time to try the L'Oreal Infallible 24hr Foundation. I did a review of the L'oreal Infallible mattifying primer a good few months back and I adore that primer, I have even bought 2 more since so, it seemed only right I try the famous foundation from the range.
As I looked for my colour I was very pleased to see that they have a mixture of warm, cool and natural toned shades, but the shades do tend to sit on the light to medium side of the spectrum despite having a good range for different undertones. I opted for 200 golden sand, a warm toned foundation to match my warm/yellow undertones.

I am never the biggest fan of drugstore makeup packaging, but the thick glass of the bottle prevents breakage when in your bag and the pump is convenient for application. The little, red, plastic lid, on the other hand, is annoying, flimsy and I'm not really a big fan of it being red, but being drugstore, I would rather the lid be cheap and flimsy than the bottle.

This is a very smooth foundation, despite being full coverage it isn't too thick and it applies very evenly with and without a primer underneath. It is able to cover dark circles, discolouration, and blemishes. I don't have very many spots or blemishes, but it covers them amazingly, although a little concealer on top just tops it off.

24hr Foundation Reviewed

Since this is a 24hr foundation I decided the best way to test out the foundation was to put it on and continue to check it out throughout the day to see how long and good the wear is. I started my day with my usual skincare routine, a cleanse with my Magnitone, tone and then I applied The Body Shop Oils of Life moisturiser.

Since I am testing the wear I thought it would be a good idea to split my face directly down the middle and only apply a primer to one side so I applied the L'Oreal Infallible Mattifying primer mixed with a little of Benefit POREfessional to only the right-hand side of my face and nothing to the left-hand side before I applied the foundation.

Of course on the right-hand side of my face my pores were smaller and less visible, but this was down to POREfessional, not the foundation. Both sides applied smoothly, evenly and without any mishaps, however, the discolouration around my left eye didn't quite cover fully, however, I would just apply some concealer to this anyway.

24hr Foundation Reviewed

First check-in
After two hours I decided to have a look at the foundation and how it was sticking around. From a distance it still looked perfect, everything still blended, no faded areas, however, upon closer inspection I noticed it had started to sink into my smile lines leaving very faint lines around my upper lip on the left-hand side. These lines were so faint I couldn't even get a picture of them, but if I were perhaps a little older these lines could possibly have been more visible, but they were on the non-primer side.

Second check-in
After six more hours aka eight hours after application, I had another look at the foundation. The smile lines weren't any more visible on either side, but on my chin where I tend to get quite oily a spot on the left-hand side had become more visible and red, again this is on the side without primer.

Third check-in
Another four hours have passed making it 12 hours after application and halfway through the promised wear of the foundation and I decided it was the perfect time for the third check in. This time, the spot on the left-hand side was even more visible, so I decided to add a little more foundation onto my chin only. It blended perfectly and covered the spot once again, this time, I popped a little powder on top to lock it in place.

Fourth check-in
Four hours later and it has been 16 hours since application, usually sixteen hours is an average makeup day for myself so I decided this would be my last check in for the day. This time, my foundation looked as good as it did when I first applied it. The faint smile lines on the left-hand side were still only visible to myself and the spot was still covered thanks to the powder and reapplication.

I like this foundation, it is very easy to blend and reapply if needed, but if you're wearing a good primer underneath chances are you won't have to reapply. I think the sinking into lines could be worse for anyone older with wrinkles or very visible smile lines, but again this was on the side with no primer. If you apply a primer on underneath I definitely think it could last 24 hours, however, I'm not too sure I know anyone who would wear foundation for a full 24 hours.

Have you tried this foundation? How long do you usually wear your makeup for?
